This deck surface was Red Balau from Kayu Canada. The customer and I agreed to install this natural exotic wood with a Hemp Shield Oil and a hidden Fastener system so that all screws and screw holes are hidden.
This customer was most excited about a surface design in his deck. I recommended the Moisture Shield-Vantage Composite deck surface because it is rippable and routable and can be easily installed on 45 degree angles using a Mantas hidden fastener. Also included in this deck is a standard lighting package.
This deck show cases a hidden fastener system called Camo Screw on a second storey walk out with wrap around stairs. You can't see it in the pictures, however this deck had buried underground facilities so we installed concrete piles after hydro-vacing the holes.
This deck was built to wrap around an existing house. The deck boards were laid on a 45 degree angle rather than parallel to the existing structure. We also used a hidden fastener system designed by
Camo Screws. The Railing is a simple floating 2x4 with a 42 inch picket and a fence board skirting to hide the septic system.
This deck is a pressure treated grey with a lot of extra features that make it one of a kind. Starting from the bottom up, we included extra screw piles to accommodate the additional weight of the hot tub. A stone skirting by Quality Stone was also used to hide the under side of the deck as well as the space under the BBQ deck. The railing is half 36 inch picket and half custom built planter boxes. This created a living wall for the corners of the railing. The over sized top of the rail on the lower deck has been routered to accommodate the planter boxes and extends over the picket section to create a cocktail bar atmosphere. The surface of the bottom deck was picture framed and installed on a 45 degree angle from the house with the hidden fastener system Camo Screw. The BBQ deck surface was installed parallel to the house again with the Camo Screw system. To finish off this project I used only GRK finish head screws for the pickets and GRK structural screws for the frame and accents to create a gold on grey patina look.
This deck was paired with a natural stone and black Regal Rail to create a very high quality, show home appearance. To give it an extra special touch we designed a picture step for the front veranda to match the picture frame deck surface.
